The concept for this site was born amidst the tumultuous times of April 2020, during the height of the \u2018corona pandemic.\u2019 Reflecting on my own challenging journey through university while studying Industrial Engineering\u2014a time when existential questions loomed large\u2014the pandemic\u2019s societal impact only intensified these inquiries, ultimately inspiring the creation of this blog.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For those in the know, a course in Operations Research is a rite of passage for any industrial engineering student. Within these problems, we find an \u2018objective function,\u2019 a \u2018set of constraints,\u2019 and a \u2018feasible region\u2019 for optimal solutions. I began to see parallels between these elements and life itself. Everyone has goals, life has its purpose, and resources are finite, be it time, money, or quality. Defining one\u2019s objectives is crucial. What is it that you wish to \u2018maximize\u2019 or \u2018minimize\u2019? Is there only one optimal point, or could there be several? These are the questions that not only drive our professional endeavors but also shape our personal journeys.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
These questions and my curiosity have sparked my excitement for this field, leading me to realize it is my area of interest: How do we make decisions? What is the most appropriate solution? Although I lack extensive experience and expertise in this field, I dream of pursuing a master\u2019s degree in it. This website, in tandem with my aspirations for a master\u2019s degree, is a platform where I aim to contribute to society by remembering and learning, sharing and teaching, and solidifying my understanding, as well as for those who inquire, \u201cWhat is Operations Research?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
